Supermarket: At 9% the growth rate of sales since the beginning of the year



The growth rate of sales for supermarkets has stabilized at 9% since the beginning of the year, compared to the same period last year, with the second wave of the pandemic and the new lockdown keeping demand high. According to data released by the company IRI surveys, in the week ended October 25, there was a 4.2% increase in turnover in organized food retail, reaching 119.99 million euros compared to the corresponding week of 2019 (which ended on 27/10) which was 115 , 1 million euros. Northern Greece with a share of 8, 8% showed a decrease in sales of 1.5%, the Peloponnese with a share of 7.6% growth of 1.7% and Crete with a share of 6.4% showed a growth of 1.8%. Regarding the dispersion of consumption by category supermarkets (stores over 2,500 sq.m.) showed a sales increase of 17.7%, the medium (2,500 to 1,000 sq.m.) showed a sales increase of 2.7%, the smaller ones (1,000 sq.m. 400 sq.m.) increase of 1.8% and the mini markets (up to 400 sq.m.) sales increase of 2.6%.
